[Seeks-users] Belated Introduction.

Hi Folks,
While I've already posted a few times to the list, I figured I should
introduce myself. My name is Dave Mackey, I've been working in the IT field
as a profession for nearly fifteen years now and have been "playing around"
since childhood. I spent three years as a Network Engineer for Collages.net
and am currently in my third year as a Systems Administrator with
Philadelphia Biblical University, my alma mater. I run a number of small
sites around the internet - including daveenjoys.com. I've been interested
in search engine technologies for around eight or nine years, especially
social search in which active curation is utilized in determining both
individual and corporate results.
At this juncture I don't have a ton of time on my hands. I spend much
of my remaining time working as an elder for my local church. I am hoping to
provide Seeks with some assistance as I am able - particularly in the
documentation and promotion departments. I've begun working on rewriting and
expanding some articles, reworking the wikipedia article, and etc.
I also hope that the Seeks developers will consider my proposal
concerning active curation as I would be happy to contribute significant
time (as I spend a lot of time related to my various responsibilities -
work, church, and otherwise) curating content.
I live in Langhorne, PA. My wife's name is Charity and we have four
cats (Hermione, Barclay, Piper, and George). We took a bit of a whack in the
recent Hurricane Irene flooding - our entire crawlspace was under water -
but overall made it out well.

I've been a CS researcher for about ten years, before leaving the
protective shell of various labs, and dedicating more time to free
software, Seeks, machine learning and other tricks. I did start Seeks
a couple of years ago, volunteering two weeks a month to the
project. More recently, having consumed my initial resources, I've
started, with others, a small company centered on servicing Seeks and
related technologies to businesses and public institutions.

Your quiet work has been very useful, especially because these
competences were missing in our little community.

I live with my girlfriend in Toulouse, France. I've been living in
various places before that, including San Francisco, and Bremen
(Germany). We have a white supersized cat named Loukoum (after the
middle-eastern pastry).

Sorry to hear you were hit by Irene. My parent's house was
flooded by the sea during the Xynthia storm
( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xynthia_(storm) ) eighteen months ago,
and I can still feel the pain and the terrible smell of muddy books
and rotten wood when I write about it.
Hope things will get back to normal shortly for your wife and yourself.
